Enforcement targets noise from vehicle modifications and driving
Dubai Police says it impounded 218 vehicles and issued 518 traffic fines for noise violations in October.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said monitoring was carried out using specialised smart devices alongside field enforcement teams across different areas of the emirate.
Officials said vehicle noise can disturb public calm and residents’ comfort, including sleep, and they linked the problem to causes such as illegal engine or exhaust modifications and inappropriate driving practices.
Dubai Police said it is expanding the use of smart technologies by increasing the number of noise-dedicated devices and adding enforcement locations.
The authority warned vehicle owners against modifications that produce loud sounds and said it will take strict measures against violators, including impounding in line with applicable legislation.
Dubai Police also urged drivers to ensure exhaust systems are in good condition, avoid unauthorised changes, and report disturbing behaviours through the Police Eye service on the Dubai Police app or by calling 901.
