Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) International has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shanghai Electric to explore opportunities across energy, water and infrastructure projects in global markets, according to the Dubai Media Office.
The signing took place with DEWA International Chairman and DEWA MD & CEO HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer present, alongside Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA and Vice Chairman of DEWA International, and Shen Bing, President of Shanghai Electric Power Generation Group.
Framework for project identification and investment
The MoU sets a cooperation framework covering the identification, evaluation, development and structuring of potential projects, including participation in and investment through tenders.
Areas referenced in the agreement include combined-cycle power plants, solar photovoltaic and concentrated solar power (CSP), battery energy storage systems, wind energy, seawater desalination, electricity transmission and distribution, and green hydrogen and green ammonia. It also covers the supply of equipment and related services for the oil and gas sector.
DEWA International said the partnership supports its efforts to expand global market presence by combining Dubai’s utilities expertise with the partner’s capabilities in energy and related technologies.
