Record attempt coordinated with Abu Dhabi transport and tourism bodies
6 November 2026 , Abu Dhabi authorities supported a high-speed record run by BYD’s YANGWANG U9 Xtreme electric hypercar, which reached 503.17 kilometres per hour on Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Road (E11) in Al Dhafra Region.
Emirates247 says the record-breaking run took place on 1 November 2026, with professional racing driver Marc Basseng reaching the stated speed on a specially secured section of the highway.
The report states that the initiative involved collaboration between the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) and other government stakeholders, covering destination support, investment facilitation and operational planning.
Officials quoted in the report credited Abu Dhabi’s road infrastructure and coordination capabilities for enabling the attempt while maintaining safety and readiness standards.
