1 November 2026 , Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met Ronald P. O’Hanley, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of State Street Corporation, in discussions that focused on the company’s plans to expand in the UAE and broader collaboration opportunities, according to the Dubai Media Office.
As President of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Sheikh Maktoum said the UAE continues to strengthen its financial ecosystem, supporting international institutions as they grow capabilities and expand across regional and global markets.
The meeting also covered factors said to enable long-term growth, including advanced infrastructure, business-enabling services, a progressive regulatory environment and a growing pool of specialised talent.
Dubai Media Office reports that the dialogue included State Street’s intention to expand its operations in the UAE, describing the opportunity as one that would support Emirati talent and strengthen local capabilities in areas such as technology, artificial intelligence, financial services and emerging industry sectors.
Further collaboration themes mentioned in the announcement include investment management, fintech and capital markets, alongside how emerging technologies are reshaping financial services.
The statement links these priorities to Dubai’s economic agenda, D33, which aims to position the emirate among the world’s top global financial centres. It also notes that State Street has an established UAE presence, including an investment management office in DIFC.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, and representatives including officials from the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and DIFC Authority, among others.
