A new Japanese dining concept has opened at Mileo The Palm on Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, with the hotel announcing the official launch of its restaurant and lounge AKA Sushi.
In its announcement, Mileo The Palm said the venue brings Japanese flavours alongside what it described as an energetic atmosphere and Japanese-inspired interior design. The hotel stated that the restaurant’s culinary direction is led by Japanese executive chef Hisa tsugu Monita, arriving from Osaka, and said he brings 21 years of experience developed across kitchens in Japan, Hong Kong, and Dubai. The release also said the chef’s menu aims to balance traditional dishes with contemporary touches.
Menu highlights described by the venue
The hotel’s statement described a range of sushi items and hot dishes. Among the sushi offerings, it highlighted rolls including Yakiniku Roll, said to combine steak together with caviar and gold flakes, alongside what it described as sweet pepper soy sauce.
Other items mentioned include Ebi Maki, described as a contrasting, crunchy take on tempura shrimp with tobiko, bonito flakes, and spicy mayonnaise, and Unagi Maki, presented as featuring freshwater eel with traditional unagi sauce.
For guests looking for familiar choices, the release also pointed to options such as California Roll. Beyond sushi, Mileo The Palm said the restaurant serves main-course dishes including Wagyu Short Ribs, described as braised, and Wagyu Sando, featuring Japanese mustard and fresh truffle on brioche. It also referenced Black Cod prepared with miso sauce and daikon.
Opening event and hotel context
The announcement said the opening ceremony was attended by the Consulate-General of Japan in Dubai, in conjunction with the hotel’s first anniversary celebrations. The hotel also described AKA Sushi as an added concept within Mileo The Palm’s portfolio, which it said already includes Papagalos, AY Restaurant, Matcha 16 Café, Fan Zone Sports Bar, and AYA Rooftop.
