MOHAP upgrades sick-leave attestation and approval workflow

Report date: 4 November 2026

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has introduced an upgraded sick-leave attestation and approval service that lets MoHAP-licensed healthcare facilities apply on behalf of patients and their companions.

Under the revised process, the same healthcare facility that issues the sick-leave certificate is responsible for submitting the attestation request, aiming to reduce paperwork and speed up approvals as part of the UAE Government’s Zero Government Bureaucracy programme.

Automatic integration for eligible government employees

MOHAP also announced an automatic integration step for eligible cases, where approved applications move directly from attestation to approval without requiring a separate request.

The simplified process applies to federal government employees and local government employees in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, subject to the relevant regulations.

MOHAP said facilities can also submit attestation requests for sick leave granted to people accompanying patients.

MOHAP’s Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services Sector, Abdullah Ahli, said the update reflects efforts to transform government service delivery by redesigning procedures, simplifying the customer journey, and strengthening coordination between government entities.
