UAE-based specialty coffee company Coffee Planet has unveiled a new brand identity centered on the initials “CP”, designed to serve as a more prominent visual signature for the business as it moves into what it describes as its next phase of regional growth.
The company said the updated monogram is intended to evolve from the way it is already “commonly and fondly addressed” as CP by industry and clients, bringing the shorthand into a larger role across brand touchpoints. Coffee Planet positioned the update as a reflection of its growth over more than 20 years, adding that it has developed from a UAE coffee company into an “integrated coffee business” with a presence across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and beyond.
What the new “CP” mark is designed to show
According to Coffee Planet, the monogram combines three elements of its identity: CP, coffee and the planet. The company said the C and P are incorporated within the outline of a coffee bean, forming the core of the symbol. It also described surrounding design features as suggesting a universe revolving around the bean, linking the mark to Coffee Planet’s stated footprint across different locations where coffee is served.
Coffee Planet added that the symbol changes in appearance depending on viewing angle. From above or from a distance, the company said it resembles a coffee cup, while a front view is intended to evoke a portafilter, connecting the identity to coffee rituals and craft.
Expansion into roasting, retail and hospitality
In its announcement, Coffee Planet outlined its range of operations across roasting, manufacturing, retail and coffee shops, alongside hospitality, private label offerings, technical services, equipment management and professional training. The company also said the brand is encountered in a variety of environments, including hotels, supermarkets, convenience stores, workplaces, e-commerce and on-the-go coffee stations.
As part of the rationale for the new monogram, Coffee Planet said its retail ecosystem now extends to more than 600 retail outlets and 40 retail brands, supported by e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms. The company also cited partnerships to expand its on-the-go network, including 80+ Emarat stations, 20+ Union Coop locations, and other high-footfall retail environments.
The company said the new monogram will appear across new brand, marketing, digital, event and customer-facing experiences, alongside the existing Coffee Planet wordmark. Over time, Coffee Planet described an ambition for “CP” to become an increasingly recognizable cue that can stand on its own while remaining clearly connected to the Coffee Planet name.
Founder comments
Allan Jones, Founder and Chairman of Coffee Planet, said in the release that the company “operate[s] across far more than a traditional coffee business.” He also said that because CP is already a common reference, creating a symbol around the initials was “a natural evolution,” with the aim of representing Coffee Planet across markets and experiences while staying rooted in coffee.
Coffee Planet’s announcement also said it is introducing the monogram as the next chapter in its planned growth across the region.
