Abu Dhabi to host Hexagon World Series padel event in October 2027, partners with International Padel Federation

Abu Dhabi has announced it will host the Hexagon World Series padel tournament in October 2027, bringing the professional team padel circuit to the emirate for the first time, according to the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).

The emirate said the event will be organised by DCT Abu Dhabi in partnership with the International Padel Federation (FIP). The tournament is described as the season finale of the inaugural Hexagon World Series, which will be governed by FIP.

In the announcement issued on 22 October 2026, Abu Dhabi said the 2027 series will feature four events across three continents. The calendar will begin in Madrid, Spain, scheduled for 21 to 24 January, before moving to North America in March and Scandinavia in June. Abu Dhabi will host the final event in October.

Team format and inaugural season

Abu Dhabi stated that the Hexagon World Series is evolving from the Hexagon Cup, which has held three editions in Madrid since 2024. The new series is said to introduce an international team-based competition featuring eight mixed-gender teams.

The release said the competition will bring together leading male and female padel players, with teams backed by prominent figures from sport and entertainment. It also said the most recent edition of Hexagon Cup drew more than 37,000 spectators in Madrid in 2026, citing the earlier tournament’s audience growth.

Statements from Abu Dhabi and Hexagon organisers

His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, said hosting the Hexagon World Series reflects what the department described as a commitment to delivering “world-class sporting experiences” and encouraging participation across Abu Dhabi’s communities. He added that padel, described by DCT Abu Dhabi as one of the fastest-growing sports, brings people together across generations and backgrounds, and that the tournament would welcome leading athletes to the emirate.

Enrique Buenaventura, founder of Hexagon Cup and co-founder of Hexagon World Series, said Abu Dhabi represents an “important addition” to the inaugural international season. He pointed to what he described as strong sporting infrastructure and a track record of creating experiences that connect people through sport, and said the series will work with DCT Abu Dhabi to showcase padel to new audiences while creating an experience for existing players and fans.

Local participation and sports tourism

DCT Abu Dhabi said that in the emirate, padel facilities, coaching programmes and competitions offer opportunities for players of different ages and abilities. The department said these pathways support skill development while encouraging active lifestyles and community wellbeing.

Beyond the event itself, Abu Dhabi said hosting the Hexagon World Series in 2027 will provide residents, fans and players access to what it described as an elite competition, support emerging talent, and help connect local players with the international padel community. The release also framed the tournament as part of Abu Dhabi’s broader ambitions to grow its sports tourism offering and attract international audiences.
