Dubai Police return lost AED 5,000 after expat mistook calls for a scam

Reported: 7 November 2026

Dubai, 7 November 2026 , A British expat in Dubai says he received repeated calls from Dubai Police after losing AED 5,000, believing at first that the contact was a scam.

The report describes George Dennis receiving missed calls and then answering, after which an officer identified as Major Ibrahim told him he had lost money and that police were trying to reach him to return it. The article states that CCTV footage was shared showing where the money was reportedly dropped.

After the expat visited Al Barsha police station to speak with an officer, the report says the money was arranged for delivery to his gym. Two team members are described as personally bringing the cash, with the officer requesting that the experience be shared with family and friends.

The article frames the incident as an example of Dubai Police support for residents when valuables are lost, while noting that Dennis is still trying to identify a person who he believes may have found and reported the money.
