Dubai Police introduce new forensic medical system to speed cases

Reported: 31 October 2026

Dubai Police have introduced improved forensic medical examination procedures designed to shorten waiting times for exams and speed up the issuance of forensic medical reports, the force said.

The update was announced following remarks by Major General Hareb Al Shamsi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Affairs, who praised the Forensic Medicine Department for developing new working methods that simplify processes and reduce steps involved in completing medical reports.

Dubai Police said the new approach includes classifying cases according to the nature and severity of injuries, so medical teams can determine the most appropriate examination procedures in coordination with relevant partners. The department also cited increased medical staffing and operational efforts as part of the changes.

Dr Younis Al Baloushi, Director of the Forensic Medicine Department, said the revised workflows aim to respond more quickly to requests from the justice system while maintaining the accuracy and reliability of medical findings.

Operational efficiency and reporting timelines

Dubai Police said the initiative reflects ongoing reviews of procedures and continuous improvement of specialised services, with the goal of supporting criminal investigations through earlier access to medical evidence.
