Dubai Police issue 48,950 fines for expired vehicle registration

Reported: 1 November 2026

1 November 2026 , Dubai Police say they have issued 48,950 traffic fines over the past 10 months for driving vehicles with expired registration.

Fines, points and impoundment

Dubai Police officials warned that expired registration can create risks beyond penalties, including the possibility of driving without confirming a vehicle’s condition after inspections become overdue.

They said the violation carries an AED 500 fine, four traffic points and seven days of vehicle impoundment. The force also noted that motorists may face additional consequences if insurance coverage has also lapsed and an accident occurs.

Calls to renew on time using smart services

Dubai Police urged motorists to renew vehicle registration within deadlines and to use available smart services to check and settle outstanding traffic fines before they accumulate. The force also highlighted the importance of keeping vehicle registration and insurance expiry dates under review and completing technical inspections on time.
